Leon and Wife Annie Doris Choate
Services for Leon Berryhill, 96, of Lufkin, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 7, 2017 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Marvin Slusher officiating. Interment will follow in Whitehouse Cemetery. Mr. Berryhill was born June 18, 1921 in Nacogdoches County, Texas, the son of the late Lydia (Nooner) and Elbert B. Berryhill. He passed away Saturday, November 4, 2017 at his residence. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed “puttering around” outdoors and gardening. In his younger years, he liked camping, fishing, and hunting with family and friends. He and his wife had years of fun on RV excursions and were members of the “Good Sammers” RV club. Mr. Berryhill was a machinist for 35 years with NIBCO. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church for over 25 years. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Doris Berryhill of Lufkin; daughter, Pamela Smith of Huntsville; son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Carol Berryhill of The Woodlands; daughter, Pamela “Kay” Bonner of Lufkin; 3 grandchildren; brother, Thurman Berryhill of Nacogdoches; sister, Mildred Beavers of Nacogdoches; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives. In addition to his parents, Mr. Berryhill was preceded in death by his son, Ronald Brandon; and 5 sisters. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home.
