Graveside service for Olan Ray Bridwell, 86, of Nacogdoches, will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, June 15, 2009, at Gravel Ridge Cemetery with the Rev. Brett Maisel officiating. Bridwell died Friday, June 12, 2009, in Wells. He was born in Alazan on Oct. 10, 1922, and was the son of Thomas Aden and Flora (Sweetser) Bridwell. He was married to Lillie Inez King, and she preceded him in death. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II as a PFC Radar Operator, participated in the Asiatic Pacific Theater and the Philippine Liberation and received the Good Conduct Victory medal. He is survived by his daughter, Clarrissa Bridwell Austin, of Nacogdoches; son, Carrol Ray Bridwell, of Nacogdoches; sisters, Clara Mae Day, of Nacogdoches, Magalene Perritte, of Nacogdoches and Mildred Hickey, of Alvin; and 6 grandchildren.
