obert Blount Haney, (Everyone calls him R. B.) was born on his father's farm near Appleby, Texas. He grew up there and attended Appleby School. At 18 years old he married Mary Louise Pentecost. They were a hard working team. They bought an ice route from a cousin Linville Haney. The roads were bad and their vehicle was always in need of repair. R.B. entered the Army in 1945, hetrained at Camp Hood Texas. R. B. was discharged, he came home and worked at several jobs. He worked for a cousin running a grocery store. Louise worked with him. R. B. was the butcher for the store and has some tales to tell about the customers he had. They saved their money and bought a piece of property and a store out on Highway 21 towards San Augustine. They had a grocery store there and had also acquired some small rent houses. R. B. and Louise were committed to the Lord and served in several churches. R. B. was elected and ordained as a deacon in the Baptist Church. He then bought his Uncle Bob's Haney place near Appleby close to where he was born. He was a member of Milam Masonic Lodge in Nacogdoches for fifty years. "R.B." Haney passed away November 1, 2007 in Nacogdoches, Texas. He is buried at Bethel Cemetery in Appleby, Nacogdoches County, Texas, USA.
