illie Fredrick Hammock was born September 6, 1921 in Nacogdoches County, Texas. The son of William Harvey Hammock (1892-1947) and Ethel L. Cooper (1897-1964). He married Virginia Mackey. Willie entered the Army in 1939, he trained at Ft. Sam Houston, Texas. He served in Ireland, England, France, and Germany. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He was awarded 5 Battle Stars, a Good Conduct Medel, and a European Theatre of Operations Ribbon. He was discharged in 1945. After the war Willie settled his family in the Humble/Porter Texas area. He worked as a Mechanic and a Truck Driver. Willie passed away July 30, 1980 in Humble, Texas at the age of 58. He was buried at Rosewood Memorial Park in Humble Texas.
