Carl Smith Burrows, Jr. January 15, 1924 - November 18, 2011 Carl Smith Burrows, Jr., 87, of Waco passed away Friday, November 18, 2011. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 4, at Laird Funeral Home in Nacogdoches, Texas. Carl was born January 15, 1924, to the late Judge Carl S. Burrows, Sr. and Agnes Lowery Burrows in Nacogdoches. Carl attended Nacogdoches High School and served in the U.S. Navy during both WWII and the Korean conflict. Upon completing his service to his country, Carl entered into the banking profession and worked as a banker most of his life. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 66 years, Peggy Morris Burrows; brother, Erwin Earl "Bubba" Burrows and niece, Lisa Hall. He is survived by one brother, Don Burrows Sr. of Timpson, TX; one brother-in-law, Dr. William T. Morris of Beaumont, TX; nine nieces, Amy Beech of Houston; Jennifer Morris of Portland, OR; Ann Emmert, Bastrop, TX, Lezly Seijas of Miami, FL; Lila Kay Parker of Weatherford, TX;Cindy Burrows Cappa of Santa Fe, TX; Jana Burrows of Nacogdoches; Kay Burrows of League City, TX and Terri Burrows of Timpson, TX; and two nephews, Dr. John L. Baker of Waco; and Don T. Burrows, Jr. of League City. Carl's family wishes to thank Quality Care of Waco for their compassionate care the last several months. We would also like to thank John and Linda Baker and Joe and Ann Emmert, who have done so much in caring for Carl during the last few years.
