Funeral for Benford B. Brantley, 89, of Lufkin will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Laird-McGill Funeral Home. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
Brantley died Oct. 1, 2004, in Lufkin.
Born Aug. 29, 1915, in Nacogdoches, he was the son of Kathrine Burnum Brantley and Floyd Lee Brantley Sr. He was retired as superintendent of parks and cemeteries for the city of Nacogdoches and served as a city fireman for 15 years. He was a member of Fredonia Hill Baptist Church and Nacogdoches VFW Post 3893. He was a U.S. Coast Guard veteran, having served during World War II as a boatswain's mate 2nd class.
Survivors include a son, Michael Scoolcraft of Tyler; daughter, Debbie Lewis of Lufkin; brother, Floyd Lee Brantley Jr. of Arkadelphia Ark.; sister Willeen Dickerson of Lufkin; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
