Ceramicist Sharon Robinson in her downtown Nacogdoches studio, Lanana House.

After retiring as a respiratory therapist, Sharon decided to seriously pursue her love of art where she enrolled in an MFA program at Stephen F. Austin State University. Throughout the years of her respiratory career, she had always taken art courses to quench her interest in art. She went on to receive her Masters of Fine Art in Ceramics and has been throwing pottery ever since. She’s been trained under the fine and prestigious tutelage of Dr. Piero Fenci, a well known domestic and international artist. She has finished art residency programs in Italy and in Mexico.

Her work is easily recognizable in her whimsical but practical vessels or within the Victorian restoration tiles for the historical Diedrich Rulfs’ homes in Nacogdoches. She creates at her pottery studio, Lanana House, located right on Lanana St. in downtown Nacogdoches, TX. When asked what inspires her, she says the intricacies of nature. Her curiosity of nature started early from her childhood days.

When Sharon isn’t throwing pottery, you can find her relaxing at her lake home with her menagerie of animals, riding horses, cruising on a boat, and painting scenes of nature with watercolor.
