Stone Fort Rifles

This is a group photograph of the Stone Fort Rifles, a Nacogdoches, Texas militia group active from 1887 to 1907. They are holding their guns as they pose. The picture was taken in a clearing in front of a wooded area, presumably in Texas. There is a regimental flag with an eagle crest behind the group and a man in a black suit and hat is visible behind the group.

The Stone Fort Rifles, is an honorary military group in Nacogdoches, Texas. In 1898, the Stone Fort Rifles converted itself into Company B of the Second Texas Regiment, Infanty, and went off to the Spanish-American War. The Nacogdoches boys came back to Dallas November 1, 1898, and were mustered out about one month later.
